Plant-based, punchy, and always refillable—Korean sides that surprise.

You Don’t Need Meat to Love Korean Food

If you think Korean cuisine is all BBQ and bulgogi, think again. At Korea Culture, the magic often lies in the small, unassuming banchan dishes—many of which are vegetarian (and some fully vegan by default).

Located in Changi Airport Terminal 3, our buffet includes 50+ rotating side dishes, and plenty of them are plant-based, halal-conscious, and packed with depth. Here are the vegetarian banchan worth hunting down on your next visit.

🫘 1. Kongnamul Muchim (Seasoned Bean Sprouts)

This humble staple is one of the lightest, cleanest dishes in Korean cuisine. Tossed in sesame oil, garlic, and a pinch of salt, it’s nutty, hydrating, and full of texture.

🍜 2. Japchae (Stir-Fried Glass Noodles)

These chewy sweet potato noodles stir-fried with mushrooms and carrots are often mistaken for a main course. The sesame glaze makes it slightly sweet, totally addictive, and 100% meat-free.

🥬 3. Baek Kimchi (White Kimchi)

Unlike the spicier red version, white kimchi is fermented without chilli powder, making it great for kids and spice-sensitive diners. It’s mild, tangy, and often packed with apple, radish, and pear.

🥒 4. Oi Muchim (Cucumber Salad)

These crunchy cucumber slices are tossed with vinegar, garlic, and sesame oil. Refreshing and light, this dish is perfect between bites of hot stew or grilled meat.

🥔 5. Korean Potato Salad (Gamja Salad)

Creamy, soft, and slightly sweet, this dish features mashed potato mixed with bits of cucumber, apple, or sometimes even raisins. It’s one of the most popular vegetarian dishes at Korea Culture.

Why These Dishes Pack So Much Flavour

Korean vegetarian cooking is all about layering—acid from vinegar, depth from sesame oil, umami from soy. Even without meat or dairy, our banchan deliver serious satisfaction.

And because our buffet rotates daily, you’ll always find something new (and meatless) to love.
